Backhoe Bucketbackhoe attachments are now very much a part of construction work as the main vehicle which is the backhoe loader. With these attachments, more tasks can be accomplished by a single machine and this is the reason why no construction firm should operate without a backhoe loader. A backhoe loader can finish construction jobs, light transportation of materials used for building, digging holes, landscaping, excavating, breaking roads made of asphalt or cement, and paving roads.

Small or medium-sized landscaping tasks often require a backhoe, and with the right attachments, it can perform a lot of heavy duty jobs that a number of heavy equipments can do singly. The most basic backhoe attachments are the following:

  • Augers
  • Tilt-rotator
  • Asphalt cutter
  • Pin lock couplers
  • Grapples
  • Hoe rams
  • Backhoe bucket

A backhoe bucket comes in many different types. They are specifically designed to be mounted onto the backhoe loader. These backhoe buckets range in size from the smallest—12 inches—to as big as 60 inches. A single backhoe bucket could weigh from 290-500 pounds. The 60-inch digging buckets are the ones that are used to dig trenches.
There are also recent innovations where backhoe buckets are double-sided and can easily shift from one function to another in just a few seconds. The backhoe bucket is also replaceable with any of the powered attachments such as stump grinders, grapples, breakers, and augers.

Here are some of the current designs for backhoe buckets:

  • The 2-way excavator bucket which is specifically designed for backhoe loaders and excavators that weigh between 11,000 to 30,000 pounds. There are also two styles under this type of bucket—the shovel-style and the trenching-style buckets. These models can also come in quick-change or pin-on versions which range from 18-36 in width.
  • The smaller version of the excavator bucket is the mini-excavator bucket.
  • Skid steer and loader buckets
  • Gradall buckets

The most common brand names when it comes to backhoe buckets in the UK are: Phoenix, John Deere, Caterpillar, Ford, Komatsu, Hitachi and Kobelko.

The backhoe bucket also has small parts such as the following:

  • Shank (weld-on adapter)
  • Backhoe bucket teeth
  • Pins
  • Small and large bushings
  • Large bucket pins

In order to buy these parts, you must know your backhoe loader’s model so that the parts would fit the vehicle. You must also have a good idea on how to properly install these parts to the bucket. Overall, these small parts comprise the backhoe bucket which is an essential part of your backhoe loader.
