Just a quick note: The TOG stands for ‘The Old Gang’ when a desperate UK commandeered the expertise of anyone with engineering Knowledge. ‘The Old Gang’ were a group of designers from WW1. I believe the TOG was used in local defence during WW2

P.S. the program which was continued by the US and Canada was called Project HARP, you should all look it up on wikipedia at the very least. The project even involved several planned orbital artillery platforms which would have been capable of firing artillery from orbit. The earlier ideas were actually built and fired several times. There were actually several dozen of the HARP guns made which were sold to several countries and included lengths of 20m, 30m, and 40m. Several of these guns were fired hundreds of times during practice and in real combat.

The Landkreuzer P. 1500 Monster was not the largest artillery gun ever made. During WWII the Germans built several artillery guns called the V3 program that were so large/long they had to be built underground with the ends of the barrels extending above the ground. They were capable of shelling London from across the English channel. The guns were rendered useless by allied bombing raids but similar guns were also used by Germany to shell Luxembourg. The United States and Canada also explored the idea of such guns in the ’70s. The barrels were so long that multiple charges had to be used to fire the artillery rounds and they were timed to go off as the round passed their locations in the barrels. You seem to know a lot about experimental German tanks of WWII so i’m stunned that you didn’t mention the V3 program.

Correcton, the landkreuzer p 1500 monster was built and used. There were two made for the Germans:dora and gustav. Gustav never saw action, however dora did, first against the Russians in 1942 in Sevastopol, destroyed fort stalin later, fought against the Polish uprising in Warsaw, and other battles firig a total of 38 shots. the largest and powerfull tank on rts game which i know:
1.devastator tank => dune and dune II
2.mammoth tank => command & conquer
3.apocalypse tank => command & conquer:red alert
4.overlord tank => command & conquer: generals
i assumed they must be weight on like 300 tons more and less
but this awsome…there’s p.1500 ton monster, and its real ever built.holy smoke!!! and also p.1000 ratte with dual cannon! man…those guys who made c&c games must have been inspired by these “monster” tanks

Was fortunate to work for a company that supplied shock and vibration equipment to Aberdeen proving grounds.I worked at the Edgewood arsenal site really of great interst to me;saw many different equipments and the results of hits on thick armour plates by chemical munations.The tank is dead issue in modern war.
